Twyford St Mary's
Church of England Primary School

Church School

We are a Voluntary Controlled Church of England Primary School with Christianity at the forefront of our religious education. Our church, St Mary’s, lies across our school field and up through the lanes of our lovely village, just beyond the water meadows.

Working together

Along with families and staff, the whole school visits St Mary’s regularly for Harvest, Christmas, Easter, and Leavers’ services. As a Church school, we have strong and supportive links with our local churches, and church workers and clergy visit the school on a regular basis. Our vicar, Rev. Damon Draisey, regularly leads Collective Worship in school – also known as faith-based assemblies – as well as supporting our regular Church services and events. Rev. Damon also sits on our Governing Board alongside our two Foundation Governors, who are elected by the Parochial Church Council.

Rev. Damon and our Foundation Governors take responsibility – in the strategic context of the Governor role – for ensuring Christian distinctiveness is embedded and upheld within every aspect of school life.

All Church schools are subject to the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) which is the Church of England and Methodist Church’s outworking of the requirements of section 48 of the Education Act 2005. SIAMS is a key element of the life of all Church of England and Methodist schools in England and you can find out more about the structure of the inspection and see the latest SIAMS report for Twyford St Mary’s here.
